• Whether to resolve IP address to a readable host name
• Number of ping packets to send
• TTL – time-to-live of ICMP packet
• Timeout – how long to wait a reply from remote host
• Size of the ping packet
• Number of ping requests for traceroute command
• Number of hops for traceroute
• Traceroute timeout
